Kandersteg is well known for its iceclimbing, and the climbing crag Ueschenen is for many well known too. But there are more climbing possibilities around Kandersteg. One is going up to Bire, as a matter of fact two routes are leading up the prominent rockpillar. You can take either the Normalroute 4b obl. (5a) or the Biranha 5c+ obl. (6a+). Either way you get a fantastic view to the valley of Kander, the Oeschinen Lake, the Dolderhorn, the Blüemlisalp, etc.
From the Top station follow the Toboggan run up the hill through the forest to the start of the routes. Aprox. 1 h 10 min walk.
